The Republicans are determined to pass their health care bill in secret by July 4th. This makes the following week yet another crucial week for saving Obamacare. I know I am repeating itself, but we must keep the pressure up, especially since Portman is one of, if not the crucial vote in the Senate.
Call Rob Portman and ask him what Republicans are hiding by keeping their healthcare bill in the shadows. Tell him that he needs to protect pre-existing conditions and the Medicaid expansion.
The Democrats are finally hearing us loud and clear: we want them to stop this health care bill at any cost. The Republicans’ secretiveness and lack of public scrutiny for this health care bill is unprecedented; the Democrats therefore should use unprecedented methods to stop this bill, or at least force the Republicans to be accountable to the American people.
Call Sherrod Brown and tell them that the Democrats should use the parliamentary procedure called “withholding consent” to grind the Senate to a halt until public hearings about the bill are held.
