Friday, June 23rd:
Rob Portman can’t seem to decide. He claims that he will only vote for Trumpcare if it is good for Ohio. He wants to know what you think. Here are some facts: the Senate version of Trumpcare would decimate Medicaid, not only kicking millions off of the insurance which they gained through the ACA’s Medicaid expansion, but would cap the Medicaid program that existed before Obamacare. People with disabilities, whose medical needs never go away, would face a future where they could no longer cover their medical costs because of a lifetime cap. Pre-existing conditions would be gone; any governor could just simply sign a form and then insurance in their state would no longer have to cover things like pregnancy, mental illness, and addiction. And more about addiction: this bill would only make the opioid crisis worse in Ohio. Addiction treatment is covered by Medicaid, which Trumpcare cuts to give a tax break to millionaires.
In what world is any of this good for Ohio?
Respond to Rob Portman with what we think of Trumpcare. Tell him that it would without a doubt make Ohio worse. Remind him how it would only worsen the opioid epidemic in our state.
Please only call Rob Portman if you live in Ohio.
