First off, congratulations. You did it. You helped to stop Trumpcare. You even got Portman to go on record opposing Trumpcare. If you called Portman, went to Portman’s office, or joined in a protest, you helped stop this bill.
But…it’s not over. We have already seen how a “dead” bill can be resurrected in the House. Mitch McConnell has plenty of tricks up his sleeve, including a $200 billion slush fund that he can bribe “moderates” like Rob Portman. And Rob Portman seems less concerned about how cutting Medicaid will adversely affect the health of Ohioans, and more worried about how cutting Medicaid will affect the opioid crisis (an issue he has staked his reputation on). Rob Portman, therefore, could easily be bribed by McConnell to vote for this indefensible bill.
Call Rob Portman, and tell him not to be bribed by McConnell. Tell him the bill will negatively impact the health of Ohioans. Tell him that Medicaid should not be cut in any way, shape, or form.
