Daily Action for Thursday, July 6th: All Too Quiet

It’s quiet. Too quiet. Unfortunately, the quiet suits Mitch McConnell well. As we have seen with the House Obamacare repeal bill, it is in the quiet that the deals get made that will let a deeply unpopular bill pass. It’s time to break this quiet, and make sure Rob Portman and the other senators hear us.

Call Rob Portman and demand that he reject the Obamacare repeal. Also ask him why he won’t hold a town hall, and let his own constituents speak their minds.

Today the state House will vote on whether to override Kasich’s veto of the freeze on the Medicaid expansion. It is critical that you call your local representative (and your senator as well) since this decision will likely affect how Portman votes on the senate bill. If there is nothing left to protect in Ohio, you can bet Portman will vote for repeal.

Call your state representative and senator and tell them to protect Medicaid in Ohio. Tell them that health care should be a right, not a privilege. Be sure to call early before the vote.

Please only call Rob Portman if you live in Ohio.

Please only call the representatives of your community.

Rob Portman:

  • Washington, D.C. Office: (202) 224-3353
  • Columbus Office: (614) 469-6774
  • Cincinnati Office: (513) 684-3265
  • Cleveland Office (216) 522-7095
  • Toledo Office: (419) 259-3895

Ohio districts are heavily gerrymandered, so it is recommended you use the official Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Senate sites to look up your local representatives. In some cases, you may have to enter the 9 digit zip code to pinpoint your exact location.
