That didn’t take long. Trumpcare is back, and it is time to drive the stake through its heart. McConnell held a meeting tonight and is desperately trying to cobble together the votes to pass Trumpcare. He may be trying to bribe “moderates” like Portman with funding for opioids. We can’t let Portman forget his obligations to his constituents.
Call Rob Portman and tell him to reject both Trumpcare and a straight-up repeal. Tell him how the Medicaid expansion and Medicaid helps me.
Tonight, Donald Trump gave up the game in an interview with the “failing” New York Times. Not only did he admit that he appointed Jeff Sessions to specifically squelch the Russian investigation, but Trump also admitted that he expects his new FBI Director to report directly to him. Christopher Wray, if you remember, was nominated as FBI Director to replace James Comey, whom Trump fired to obstruct the Russian investigation. Now Wray’s independence is in question; he must publically reaffirm that he will not act as a lackey to Trump. Wray must not go over his boss’s head at the Department of Justice to give Trump the latest scoop on the Russian investigation. Sherrod Brown and the other Democrats must demand Wray publically reaffirm his independence in light of Trump’s comments, or be prepared to vote against his nomination.
Call Sherrod Brown and demand that he votes against the nomination of Christopher Wray unless he has the fullest confidence in his independence from Donald Trump.
Please only call Rob Portman if you live in Ohio.
